River Healthy! Now is the time to visit

After all the recent rain and above average rainfall in 2023 the Wilbraham River is in full flow. The reed and weed that grow and clog the river when it is nearly empty in the autumn has been cleared by the Environment Agency in the last 2 weeks. The river has not looked better in the last 30 years! (of course it looked even better in 1930 before we started abstracting water nearby). Now is the time to go and visit and realise what the river should/could look like all year round. An otter sighting has been reported near Wilbraham Fen SSSI and a water vole spotted near the Long Drove. If we achieve all year round flow we can expect more nature recovery and maybe even some fish returning.
